Final week of your status, situation and outlook, please offer it.
I can assure you all a complete wrap-up and summary with a week from this coming Friday.
The results and responses so far have been very revealing and all over the map. I also fully intend
to submit this to ASLA and see if it shakes their cage into being a little more proactive…[Read more]

Let’s keep the commentary rolling in here, I will take down the discussion log in two weeks and post a summary of what everyone had to say, the completely unreliable ratio of those employed versus not, and some thoughts about what proactive things we can do to help each other and our profession out in this regard.

Can you elaborate a bit more such as:* What part of the country your firm is located ?
* What the current economic picture is as it affects the design professions.
* Any other anecdotal or tangential observations…[Read more] -

We seem to think we are nicely inter-connected and instantly informed about this profession by websites such as this one, and I have no doubt that many of us, myself included, find this forum immensely helpful.
In this particular discussion, similar to what one finds on Archinet (without all the bitching and moaning) discussion threads on this…[Read more]

I’m not sure how to respond to your point, because it is not exactly clear to me what that point is. First up, I am in the well-populated school of belief that hand graphics trump computer-generated ones, hands-down, anytime and anywhere. Computer and other graphics generated digitally certainly have their place and are powerful and persuasive…[Read more]

landplanner replied to the topic Department of the Interior | National Park Service in the forum GENERAL DISCUSSION 15 years, 8 months ago
I worked for NPS at the Denver Service Center as a landscape architect. I probably applied at least three times before getting called for an interview. It definitely helped that I had a colleague who was already there and tipped me off to when there would be an announcement coming out. I got the job on my own merits and achievements.
What the…[Read more]
