It’s fantastic : been looking for that client for a few years now, and all my time researching the topic still cannot come to fruition. Best of luck for the process !
In all my internet wanderings and book readings, the most useful source I found is a book written by Wolfram FRANKE : “Der Traum vom eigenen Schwimmteich“, 2004. I have the french…[Read more]

Great idea !
I had so much fun as a kid building small worlds in the woods with my cousins, using twigs, moss, leaves, pines cones, stones, anything we could find, really ! We also loved to build dams on streamlets and related water engineering . . .
Looks like someone feels quite nostalgic about these kind of games : The pothole gardener

Take her out to see places together regularly, like parks, natural places, urban squares etc, and you guys start talking about life. Best gift she can ever get.
Then when you guys come across a shop, get her the tools Rob said, plastic pots and indoor plants seeds if no garden outside.

Goustan BODIN replied to the topic SKATEPARK DESIGN – Integrating skatepark design into landscape architecture in the forum GENERAL DISCUSSION 10 years, 10 months ago
Fully agree with Jason : ever had a speeding skateboard unexpectedly hitting you in the ankle from behind ? Hurts like hell, and you do want to let the skater know you’re *not* happy with it.
Else : is it a school or real life project ?

plenty of the most obvious solutions to tasteless inefficient urban sprawl can be found here :
when is it ok to fail ?I like the way the author brings the right questions into the wrong demands.

I saw some videos on Youtube proving there were giants pyramids in the center of China, one of them with an emerald top. They have been built by a renegade dynasty of emperors that were working on the secret of immortality. Some old aerial pictures still exist, but the recent pictures and proofs have been erased. They even doctored images on…[Read more]

Welcome to the Old World ! To further your design abilities, the first thing to do is expand and enhance your cultural references landscape library. Use your time there to visit places, both the ancient and the new.
First things first, learn the specifics of where you live : you’re at the best place in the world to get to know wth an english…[Read more]

As far as AI goes, I read that this year they will reach a new step and develop a computer with power equivalent to the brain of a mouse. Apparently, a computer with power equivalent to a human brain should be feasible within the next 5-10 years.
Exponential growth seems to be the rule, so what’s next after that ?It’s only a question of time…[Read more]

Depends what type of meetings as well. I’ve recently participated in a meeting where you are expected to stay up to the end, while our client reviews progress on all of their projects, even the ones you’re not working on.
About 30 people in the room, and when your turn has passed, you’re seriously bored and wasting time.
That’s when I did wish I…[Read more] -

Hi Sean,
I am based in Bkk as well, working for a Thai firm since I can speak Thai as well. I believe it would be beneficial for both of us to trade experiences and so forth.
Sent you a ‘friend’ request so we can communicate further through PM.

I feel I started flying on my own way too early compared with my experience. It was tough to have to do things I’d never done before, all alone. There were for me, and I guess for pretty much everyone doing new tasks, times when I just had no idea on how to proceed. This wasn’t too much of a handicap when drawing at home for example, where I had…[Read more]

Goustan BODIN replied to the topic Why don't professors teach more AutoCAD in schools? in the forum TECHNOLOGY 11 years ago
I don’t feel qualified to estimate how many hours students should spend on a software. LAs working in the academic field might have better advise than mine.
Though, when I read that you recommend 5-10hrs/week, over the cours of 4-6 yrs, I wonder what else you expect students to learn ? Someone previously talked of Cad monkeys, and I feel that’s…[Read more]

You make a good point, though I feel you limit our profession to working in ‘firms’. This could be the majority of jobs, but by far not limited to that, at least not in Europe where planning and gov agencies hire lots of LAs that will not spend most of their times on autocad.
Then, i will repeat that autocad is just one software amongst many,…[Read more]

If my understanding of public space in India is correct, cows might actually not be the hardest animal to accommodate of those living in you rain garden.
Something tells me that humans will also live there, and could be appreciative of efforts done to alleviate a bit the hardships they endure :
– fruit trees
– toilets
– drinking water spots
