still 2 weeks before presentation, keep suggestions coming !
Ernst, it is the solution I am thinking about now : some structure will also help decompact and improve soil where we ‘elevate’ the pathways. Beneficial to the tree overall.
Toby, very good point, hadnt thought about the weight yet.
thank you both :champagne: !
This tree is actually…[Read more]

then balance is what you are looking for, not just career.
Rob is right, assess your priorities clearly. Scribble something on a piece of paper, 2 columns : career, life Vs 2 rows : advantages & disadvantages. Then brainstorm yourself (and possibly close friends/colleagues/family) on both offers. Let it rest for a couple of days, then have a…[Read more]

No Lisp for you (still in the steep learning curve myself), but I have recently come across a couple of LISP libraries online.
Hope that helps…

hmmm…
– I see no sign of real drainage on this sloped parking, but this could be due to the picture angle.
– Lighting does seem tricky though : looks like asymetrical lighting fixtures facing *away* from the parking lot. Actually facing perpendicularly, lighting half power on the cars, half on the garden. Are there any pedestrian…[Read more] -

Goustan BODIN replied to the topic Banning LEED ???? May just be a good idea….. in the forum GENERAL DISCUSSION 10 years, 9 months ago
LEED has several flaws, and many voices claim that standard is not going for enough, but
When i read this : “legislative siege with lobbyists from the timber, plastics and chemical industries crying out, “monopoly!”
then : [these] “various industries that could otherwise aid in the sustainable construction of environmentally-sensitive building…[Read more] -

If that constraint is not expressly mentioned in your contract, you are free to do just as you wish. Be honest : say what you did, or contributed to do. People who hire are interested into knowing what you can do.
A reverse extreme example : I have designed a garden for a Chancery once, a couple of years after sept11, and had to sign a very…[Read more]

Goustan BODIN replied to the topic CAD layering standards for LAs in the forum PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE 10 years, 9 months ago
I just found out you can also define layer filters in the layer manager : saves a lot of time when there are too many to deal with.
I made a filter for planting (all), one just for trees, one for all other plants
Then some other for master plan, paper space, etc…By default, you can already select which Xrefs in the drawing you want to…[Read more]

Goustan BODIN replied to the topic what to render beyond edge of site? in the forum GRAPHICS 10 years, 9 months ago
Somewhat glad you see things as I do : 1 skill/set of skills is not enough.
Now, you also scare the hill out of me: I’m just 40, and I feel that what you just said is sound and real.
Do I feel ready to fly on my own if I have to ? Not really. Will work harder to be sure I can if the time comes. Thanks for your warning.

in the 1 minute i watched this before feeling i was wasting time, I saw lots of concrete, old modernist ideas such as separation of transportation networks from almost a century ago (Le Corbusier & such), dead looking images, and nothing to make me feel like i belong there.
isnt it time that guy retires ?

I like what you guys say, but I’d like to bounce on an idea J Robert just expressed :
“ when I see poor student presentation or autoCAD drawings…it makes me wonder HOW & WHY they were issued an LA degree”Drawing is a fantastic skill, and having good graphics skills too. If you work on your own, or on a small team, it becomes critical because…[Read more]

Goustan BODIN replied to the topic what to render beyond edge of site? in the forum GRAPHICS 10 years, 10 months ago
easy, whatever the definition :
– make your selection (for mask or deletion)
– use feather to blur the edge of your selection (before applying mask/deleting) : either a tiny edge blur (2 to 5 pixels) just to smoothen that edge up, or a large blur (20 to 100 px)try it up, experiment, have fun 🙂
don’t waste too much time on it ! 😉 -

Just would like to attract attention on tropical hardwoods for a minute : most are now rare, very expensive, and a large proportion come from illegal logging that destroy the few natural forests left on this planet.
Due to deforestation *and* transportation their carbon footprint is terrible. So their specific qualities (durability, beauty,…[Read more]
