David Lorberbaum replied to the topic High Line part II now open in the forum GENERAL DISCUSSION 13 years, 6 months ago
I couldn’t believe it was opening on the day after we left. I was there this past weekend with my wife, Mom, and sis. It was my first time being back in NYC in 5 years. O well, I guess I will just have to take another trip in 5 years. I was able to get a few pictures of it though.

David Lorberbaum replied to the topic Any great tips on the exam – section C in the forum GENERAL DISCUSSION 13 years, 7 months ago
With my experience with the exam time management was the biggest help. I started out doing a single problem two or three nights after work. Then the next week I would set aside two hours and do two problems in one sitting. I did this until I was able to set aside 4 hours on the weekend and go through 4 vignettes just like the real ex…[Read more]

Ashish,
I’m a UGA grad like yourself and have been very fortunate to still have my position with the firm I started working with right out of school. On the other hand, I have been keeping up with my classmates and they have not been so lucky. When I have talked with them a majority of them have gone back to school. One is going back to be a…[Read more] -

Jay,
I have fortunately still been employed with the same company. I have had to take a reduction in pay, but most everyone I know that has kept their current jobs has had to do the same thing. I am just grateful to still be employed at this point.Hope that helps.

Thanks for sharing Trace. That was a nice opinion piece and the comments were entertaining. I imagine that the cost would be extremely high for cities to try and implement some of the Local Code into their unused spaces, but they do not have to do it all at once.
It would be a nice discussion on whether or not it would improve(value of property,…[Read more]

David Lorberbaum replied to the topic Illustrator vs. Photoshop for Rendering Plans in the forum TECHNOLOGY 14 years, 11 months ago
In our office we all use Photoshop for our digital renderings. I think it helps using one program to do our renderings because we typically all use the same format so that anyone can pick up the rendering at anytime to work on it. This works well when someone is sick or needs help with a rendering.
I think you can see the problem with using…[Read more]

When I took the exam in the summer of 2008 there were not any “essay” or comparison type problems. I am not sure if they still have those on exams anymore. I know that friends and colleagues that have taken the exam the past couple of times have not had any problems like that either.
That’s not to say they will not have one this go around. So to…[Read more]

Landon,
Also, if you were attempting to really impress someone or just wanted a different term for “sense of place” you can go with Genus loci.6 to one person, half dozen to another person.

If you come through Birmingham we have a ton of great BBQ. Our big parks are still being developed, but Red Mountain Park, once it is completed, will be over 1,100 Acres and is only about a 5 minute drive from the center of the city. Also, try and stop by New Orleans. Tons of great places to see there. I have been several times but have yet to…[Read more]

David Lorberbaum replied to the topic Does Anyone Watch HGTV Or FLN? in the forum GENERAL DISCUSSION 15 years, 6 months ago
I think the shows are fairly entertaining. I mean, for me, if I get to watch them they are better than watching all the shows my wife watches since she basically has control over the television.
That being said, I used to watch a lot of “This Old House” with my Dad and they would have some great restorations of older homes, but then again, only…[Read more]
