You might also want to check your state or local health code, as that is where many of the pool regulations reside.

Red is good luck in the Chinese culture. Much of the design and symbolism has to do with inviting luck in to the home and persons.

Aren’t second story decks, or any elevated deck for that matter, usually considered structure and therefore be subject to the same rules as the building?

Color in general seems to be a weak point in our profession. From your fake feces browns to that dyed red mulch that drives me nuts, I think it is more a case of material selection period than just the color. I can’t understand why the same hideous engineered wall systems keep being used when there are much more realistic options in much better…[Read more]

That is what continuing education credits are for. Push for your state to require them if they don’t already.

And S&P’s stated reasons are interesting.
1. They do not trust the current political structure’s ability to do anything or enough of anything to stabilize the debt. We’ll have to wait until 2012 to fix that (if either party gains clear majorities).
2. They were looking for SUBSTANTIAL and near immediate reduction in spending, to the tune of…[Read more] -

I don’t agree with the exclusion of non-terminal degree professionals being excluded from teaching at many universities. There are often much brighter, dedicated, and more experienced (REAL WORLD experience) among practicing professionals than those isolated in academia. It is a very different world. Truth is, it is a statistics game. The…[Read more]

Nope
You need a licensed landscape architect to even advertise landscape architectural services. Unless you have someone with a license as a contact person with the state, under whose license the firm is opertating, the word “architect” or “architecture” cannot appear in advertising, as you are saying that you are providing LA services, when y…[Read more] -

Just announced this morning. Need I say more with regards to fed loans? THIS is what I meant (and it is both parties).
They are now going to make certain graduate loans payable while you are still taking classes. Nothing like changing the rules mid-stream. If the private sector tried this, there would be lawsuits flying from breach of contract.…[Read more] -

Nope, I looked at grad school loans last summer, and the interest I was quoted by FAFSA was around 9%. Plus, you need several loans, as not one would cover it. And since the takeover by the feds last June, most private loans have dried up or are even worse interest rate wise. I couldn’t find anything, not even from my credit union, that was…[Read more]

Depends on what kind of loans you get…I tried the fed route…terrible interest rate. And after 2 years, then you have to start paying it back…job or not. I wasn’t willing to take the chance of owing the feds. By the time you ammortize everything, it was a car payment every month. Not just any car, were talkin a Benz or BMW, and a very nice o…[Read more]

If you are close, like, VERY close as not to need a hotel, and you get the steeply discounted student rate, by all means go. You can learn a great deal about the profession as well as some of the “nuance” of design by seeing may of the presentations. It can also serve as great inspriration for your studio projects (gives you a leg up on your…[Read more]
