Perhaps allowing local children to discover that food is not necessarily something you have to purchase in packages is just too incendiary?

You know, I think that’s not so easy to judge.
Depends on the morality one uses.
I expect that the Western middle class cubicle-plugged-in-life is less terror-filled and pain-filled than the Medieval serf’s… but is it better simply for that reason? (Frankly, to read many posts on Land8lounge you would think that no one knows happiness. And to…[Read more] -

Perhaps… but 6.9Billion humans (heading quickly to 9Billion) cannot hope to drive around in their amazingly fuel efficient cars and have no energy issues.
In 1974 there were 4Billion of us and only a small fraction owned cars.
Neither technology nor planners are going to get us out of this. Neither have ever solved important social and global issues. -

It’s rather hard to see ANY private vehicle — no matter the fuel — as “green” UNLESS it’s a color

Rob Halpern replied to the topic Bad font decisions, yes I'm talking to you Papyrus users! in the forum GENERAL DISCUSSION 13 years, 5 months ago
choosing the wrong font is similar to choosing the wrong plant
Yes, like adding the wrong ingredient to a dish is similar to selecting the wrong chair for a living room.
That you feel so strongly about fonts, and have your deep set preferences is all fine. And if it enables you to submit your designs with added confidence and pride that’s…[Read more] -

It appears that most of your articles state general principles and guidance.
You might look at some case studies, specific properties with problems, well known landscapes you might analyze, successful residential or commercial landscapes you could analyze. -

I’d like to think that I can cut down any tree in my yard as long as it is not in a wetland buffer. ..
You know, so would I. As long as all my neighbors don’t also cut down their trees.

But in this case it is hard to believe that there really is a public safety issue… whatever other issues there may be It appears as if these Crepe myrtles are so small and have been kept so small that there is no hazard possible here unless someone yanks one up and clubs someone else with it.

Rob Halpern replied to the topic PORTFOLIO – chronological order? in the forum GENERAL DISCUSSION 13 years, 6 months ago
It’s important to think of the portfolio as a sales and marketing piece rather than a professional biography.
If a project (or your ability to present it) isn’t great then leave it out.
Open with something impressive, followed by a couple of less impressive but very good projects, then a great one or two.
I wonder how necessary it is to mass…[Read more] -

Well Trace’ I was thinking more about your thread and realized that just because no one does it and probably no one would ever fund it, doesn’t mean it isn’t an interesting design challenge to consider.
It seems to me that a “memorial” to a bad guy needs to be interactive.
You might gaze with inspiration upon a memorial to a great guy or woman……[Read more] -

But no one builds memorials for “bad guys.” Memorials for their victims, yes, but not for the guy. Stalin in his mausoleum was not intended as memorializing a monster but rather the country’s leader.
I’m guessing that the designers working on the 9/11 Museum in NYC will be wrestling with how to depict today’s events. -

Thomas,
Then why would you believe DNA “reports” or “Pictures” of a head or anything? In the end you will believe one thing or another and never have “proof.” Tough existential problem, eh?

Who is your client? To whom is this site speaking?
The opening flash seemed geared to marketing graphics skills more than anything else. Is that your intent?
